The New Ride For Moab, Utah 2012

Well it is that time again. Chris Durham Motorsports is well on the way to Moab, Utah for Easter Jeep Safari. Feast your eyes on the newest design. The custom design started with a frame (as usual). It is a play off of the willys jeep truck. The front grill is an authentic from a “willys jeep here at the shop”. And, the “Chris Durham Motorsports vintage blue” paint job was carefully painted in multiple layers to give that right out of the carolina mountains look. This jeep has many advantages over other designs. As always low-centered, full cage, and very safe. And it will go where many cannot.

The threads occasionally have skeptics (and I track them carefully), so this year we have a bit of a surprise for y-all. So… please stay tuned and check back in the next couple weeks to see what I am talking about. We have something to show you, because talk would only be cheap.

see you if you’re coming, and if not see ya’ll when we return.

Landrovers Modified by Chris Durham

Posted in current projects, durham tested, Land Rovers, wheeling adventures on January 28, 2010 by patrick cox photography

Here are a couple examples of what Chris Durham is capable of doing. Here we have two of my personal Landrovers. A 1995 Defender 90 and a 2004 Discovery II. Basically Chris did the same thing to both. He made them way more capable than stock. Arb lockers front and rear, on board air. Custom rock guarding underneath. He only adds the necessary lift to keep the center low. Most of the people who have ever crawled around my trucks think that the work he did was from the factory.  The way he handles metal is nothing but top notch. I will try to post some the the examples of what i am talking about because it is crazy. Both of these trucks are protected front to back. When I handed them over to Chris, all I said was I want you to do to these truck what you would do if they were yours. Well, except for the part about cutting them with a plasma cutter, which he is very capable of doing, just not what I was going for here if you know what I mean. In my opinion the Discovery below is the best looking one I have ever seen.  notice the back bumper on the discovery is steel NOT stock. Let us know what you think. Enjoy and comments appreciated. More photos to come.

Chris helping us through the V

only the big boys made it through this.

This hill of clay had no rocks. You could stand in it at the bottom and look up about 10 feet before seeing the top. We had to climb with the left side of the bank with our jeeps, or face sever body scraping and possible body damage. Once we were at the top on a straddle, it was a delicate balance between making it and, well potentially falling in. Chris was there spotting, and frankly there is no better spotter out there.  Steve W. is at the wheel in his well modified green Jeep.
